The world's northernmost artist residency

The Field Station is an international artist residency centre located on the wild and remote Arctic island of Ingøy (71° N), off the coast of northern Norway.

Our residencies support the development of new work by national and international artists, groups and organisations working in all art forms.

‘A protected environment in which researchers can conduct the long-term studies required for making fundamental discoveries’

The Field Station

Our unique 100 acre residency site offers international artists from all backgrounds and disciplines the chance to truly break from the norm and fully immerse themselves in their practice.

Ingøy

A flourishing archipelago, lit up 24/7 by the Midnight Sun in the Spring & Summer transforms into a snow-covered Arctic tundra in the Autumn & Winter, where the extreme depths of the polar nights are illuminated by spectacular displays of Northern Lights.

From icy tundra to flourishing archipelago and back again, this otherworldly environment of snow-covered polar darkness and Northern Lights turns to vibrant summers of 24 hour sunlight.
